ucson, Arizona, Giant Sand and Howe Gelb are inextricably linked. Singer-songwriter Howe Gelb, as a musical genius and
bandleader, has already created a lot of dust from the desert city. His Americana is truly limitless. But those who like to think
in boxes can hear a mix of rootsrock, faux jazz, southern folk and mariachi. With his Giant Sand Gelb managed to get hold of
Joey Burns and John Convertino in the mid 80s and 90s, a decade before the two founded Calexico.
Now Gelb turns time back to 1986, the year of Giant Sand’s second album, Ballad Of A Thin Line Man. Howe Gelb, Thøger
Lund and Tommy Larkins have dusted off this vinyl record and rethought it. Buried gems have been polished and combative
tirades have been revived. In addition to pimping, the songs were given a different order, a number were omitted and new
ones were added. The result of the re-recording is called Recounting The Ballad Of The Thin Line Men..Slippes 20.9
